It took nearly a year to see the Consultant Urological Surgeon and was finally seen on a Sunday after receiving a phone call to arrange the appointment three days before. He was pleasant, reassuring and explained everything in stages.

Mother has been seen in the Urology department and has felt very happy with her treatment by all of the staff. Mr Turk has seen my Mother on three occasions so far ( Mother is 90) . Each time Mother has felt that Mr Turk has tried very hard to make her feel comfortable and as if she were very important. His kind and pleasant manner has made her feel so much better about an otherwise very frightening condition.

I was referred to see Mr Turk under the two week urgent referral scheme to investigate blood in my urine. My appointment was on time and Mr Turk had previously requested blood tests and arranged a Ct scan and carried out a cystoscopy whilst I was there to see him. He was exceptionally courteous and polite and had clearly read all my notes and - especially as I have quite a complex medical history - was both kind and sensitive as he spoke to me, making me feel at ease. He explained about the cystoscopy clearly and what I could expect both during and after the procedure was carried out really respecting my dignity and with 'efficiency' - all well prepared and not rushed but talked me through it. My only slight concern was that I had not really been prepared to have the cystoscopy during the appointment and so had not increased my dosage of hydrocortisone for my Addison's Disease sufficiently and so needed an emergency injection when I arrived home (something my husband is used to administering so not too great a problem). I was quite anxious about the referral beforehand and cannot thank Mr Turk enough for his care and professionalism and for the speed of his letters following the results. I would also like to thank the nurse who accompanied me throughout and was exceptionally kind and caring and made sure that I understood what possible side effects I could expect (as already pointed out to me by Mr Turk) Many thanks. I saw Mr Turk for the first time on Tuesday 18th October 2022. My appointment was a follow up for urological problems and possible prostate cancer. He confirmed that I did indeed have prostate cancer and gave advice on temporary measures I should take up.(De-caffinated drinks and Avoidance of Carbonated drinks), He was patient and considerate. I had some difficulty understanding him but managed to do so with some concentration, Following my appointment he moved with alacrity and arranged for me to have a scan on Sunday 23rd October, This was followed by another scan on Thursday 27th Oct, Around the same time I received a detailed letter from him confirming the points he raised at our appointment and also another face to face meeting in 3 weeks time.I am immensely impressed with his dedication.
